What you need to know about Anti Wrinkle Treatments

Anti-wrinkle injections are an aesthetic treatment to achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance as they temporarily relax the muscles – it’s important to know that it is not permanent and will need top-ups.

Anti-wrinkle treatments are most commonly used in the forehead, on crow’s feet lines, around the eyes, between the eyebrows and much more. However, it has many more uses than just for aesthetics, and can be used to treat conditions such as excessive sweating.

where can you have Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be administered to various points on the face to target specific concerns, some of the most common areas include:

  • Forehead
  • Crow’s feet lines
  • Frown lines
  • Bunny lines
  • Eyebrows
  • Chin dimples
  • Neck bands
  • Lip lines (Smokers lines)

Please note that where you are able to be treated depends on anatomy and desired end results.

How does having Anti-Wrinkle work?

All anti-wrinkle treatments block the nerve signals that are responsible for controlling your muscle contractions. Once injected into a muscle it attaches to the nerve endings in the injection site and prevents the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is responsible for transmitting signals between nerves and muscles, and it plays a key role in initiating muscle contractions.

It typically takes a few days for the treatment to settle and do its job, so you may not notice results until after a few days, up to a week. The full effects can last for several months, although the duration may vary depending on the individual and the specific treatment area. Over time, the nerve endings regenerate, and the effects of anti-wrinkle gradually wear off, which is why repeat injections are needed to maintain the desired results.

Longevity

The duration of the effects can vary depending on several factors, including the dosage, the treated area, and the individual’s metabolism. On average,  injections typically last for about 3 to 6 months. However, the duration of the results can vary from person to person.

Side Effects

Side effects are extremely uncommon, but as a precaution, you may experience bruising, swelling, redness, mild pain and a headache from treatment.

Aftercare

It’s important to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure the best possible results and minimise the risk of any complications. We recommend the following; avoid touching the area, avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours, avoid alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours.
