Ageing Skin

Ageing is a process that everyone will go through, but it can affect your confidence and self-esteem. Some people age sooner than others, and in different ways. Collagen and elastin are the two core proteins in our body, but we notice it the most in our skin. They are responsible for the plumpness, elasticity and youthfulness of our skin, especially on the face, hands and neck. As we age, our bodies’ collagen and elastin production begins to slow and the amount we produce decreases.

This is what causes the ageing process, and can include things like;

  • Wrinkling

  • Fine lines

  • Skin sagging

  • Crepey skin

  • Skin hollowing

Treatments for ageing skin

Lots of our clients when they visit us have specific skin concerns that they would like us to treat, and we advise and build a plan of treatment types and areas. The most common treatments for ageing skin are botox and dermal fillers.

Aside from fillers, skin boosters such as Profhilo and Rederm can help with ageing skin and to give your skin the boost of essential nutrients it needs. Although Profhilo works like a skin booster, it is classed as a lighter dermal filler as it does have a tightening effect on the skin and tissue. However, it’s main purpose is to hydrate and plump the skin, as opposed to filling hollows and contouring like traditional dermal filler.
