Skin Booster Injections: How Do They Work?

Skin boosters are one of the most popular treatments available at our clinic. They are a relatively new treatment, but due to their regenerative properties and the fact that they aren’t a filler or Botox, they are only rising in popularity.

Patients at our clinic love the results from skin booster injections. They are essentially a hydrating cocktail for the deepest layer of your skin, made up of all the essential stuff that your skin needs to look youthful and glowy.

So let’s start with the basics.

Skin Booster Injections: What Are They?

Skin booster injections are an injectable treatment that is typically administered to areas of the face. However, skin boosters can also be injected into other areas of the body such as;

  • Hands
  • Decollage
  • Under the chin
  • Knees
  • Neck

What makes them so popular is that they are a long-lasting treatment, but are also more of a subtle enhancement than a treatment such as dermal filler. As you age, your skin starts to lose its elasticity and produce a lot less collagen, which is crucial for firm, bouncy skin. This leads to skin creping, sagging, and fine lines. The main purpose of skin boosters is to kickstart your body’s natural production of these proteins to the deepest layers of your skin, to ensure a hydrated, glowy complexion.

When Should You Get Skin Boosters?

A frequently asked question at our clinic is ‘When should I get skin boosters’ and ‘Who is suitable for skin boosters?’.

The truth is, that skin boosters are suitable for all genders and all age groups! Since they’re so good for the skin they can have an impact on all skin types and completely transform the complexion. Not only do they treat skin dullness and ageing skin, but they can also help with skin concerns such as dark circles and scarring.

Tear trough treatments are another popular treatment available at our clinic, but lots of people are worried as it is a slightly riskier treatment, and it is also harder to be recommended for. If you are someone who wakes up with puffy eyes, you will be recommended to not have tear-trough filler.

However, skin boosters such as Rederm can help treat dark circles without the need for any filler, making it a great alternative. So if dark circles are something that bothers you, Rederm is a great alternative.

In terms of treatment timeframes and recommended treatment times, we recommend most of our skin boosters in a course of 3 treatments minimum to see optimum results. This is because your skin’s collagen and elastin are constantly being kickstarted between treatments, meaning you will see the best results from 3 treatments split over 3 months.

Different Kinds Of Skin Booster Injections

It’s important to note that there are many different brands of Skin Booster injections available at our clinic, and although they do similar things, some treat other specific skin concerns.

The Hydrobooster is a relatively new skin booster introduced at our clinic. Hydrobooster focuses heavily on hydrating and plumping the skin, making it great for cold Winter months when the air is very cold and dry which can be unforgiving on the skin. If you suffer from dehydrated skin all year round, it can lead to flaky, chapped irritated skin which can make your complexion and skin texture look uneven. The Hydrobooster aims to deeply hydrate your skin with high concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid, making your skin appear hydrated, firm and also reducing sensitivity.

Currently one of the most popular treatments in the industry, Profhilo is a skin treatment that helps rejuvenate and tone the skin. Also with a high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid, it’s a great treatment for dry, lackluster skin.

Because of this, it flows across the skin very easily, meaning it can be injected to set points of the face each time for a ‘full face’ treatment, rather than target a specific area. Unlike other skin boosters, Profhilo is only recommended in 2 treatments, but you will likely need this treatment twice a year.

Redensity is also a better treatment for more mature skin. It is a Collagen BIostimulator that helps restore density, as well as promote collagen and elastin production. This is the best skin booster for those wanting to battle skin concerns such as dark circles, hollow under eyes, and overall fine lines and wrinkling.

Similar to Redensity, Rederm can be used to tackle skin pigmentation such as dark circles and overall dark spots. It can also be used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and also skin creping/sagging. Unlike treatments like Profhilo, Rederm is injected directly into the desired area to create small bumps of product under the skin.

The product is then left to break down under the skin and work its magic! Rederm is typically recommended in a course of 6 for the best results, and to treat skin concerns as best as possible.

Overall, skin boosters are a fantastic treatment option for people of all ages. Whether you have specific skin concerns or just would like a general radiance boost to your skin, there is a product for everyone!

Although there isn’t much of a criteria to meet for skin boosters, we always have a consultation beforehand, mainly so our clinician can discuss with you your goals and any concerns or questions you may have.
