The Lumex Octi-Lase delivers very short pulses of laser energy into the tattoo pigment. The energy breaks the ink into smaller particles, which the body gradually clears over time. The surrounding skin is protected by carefully selecting the wavelength and treatment parameters for the individual tattoo and skin type.
Black ink usually responds well to the 1064 nm wavelength, while selected red and warmer-toned pigments may respond to 532 nm. Coloured, mixed or cosmetic pigments can behave differently, so they must be assessed and patch tested.
Laser tattoo removal may be suitable if you:

Laser tattoo removal works gradually but is permanent.
The laser breaks ink particles into smaller fragments that the body clears naturally over time, so results build up session by session. Most tattoos need somewhere between 6 and 10 sessions, spaced 6 – 8 weeks apart, though this varies depending on ink colour, density, depth, and your skin tone.
Black and dark blue inks tend to respond best and fade fastest, while greens, yellows, and lighter colours are more stubborn and may need extra sessions or a different laser wavelength. Older, more faded tattoos often clear more easily than dense, professionally applied ones with heavy ink saturation.
Once a tattoo has fully cleared, the results are permanent. The treated ink is gone for good and won’t return. Some clients are left with minimal to no visible trace of the tattoo, though very deep or heavily layered pieces may leave faint shadowing even after a full course of treatment.
After your consultation, our team with help you to set realistic expectations upfront. Progress can look slow between early sessions, but consistent spacing and completing the full recommended course gives the best chance of a clean, lasting result.
Side effects to laser tattoo removal treatment is usually minimal, with temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or skin sensitivity possible.
Right after treatment, the area may look red, swollen, or blistered – that’s normal and usually settles within a few days. Keep the area clean and dry, and apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment or a barrier cream as advised by your practitioner. Ensure to cover it with a clean, non-stick dressing for the first few days.
Avoid picking, scratching, or popping any blisters, as this increases the risk of scarring and infection.
Water: No swimming, baths, hot tubs, or saunas, until it’s fully healed, and keep showers brief with lukewarm water over the treated skin only.
Sun protection: It is essential to keep the treated skin covered or use a high-SPF sunscreen once it’s healed, since UV exposure can cause pigmentation changes and slow healing.
Exercise & Sweating: Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for the first 48 hours
Tight clothing: Steer clear of tight clothing that could rub against the area.
If you notice signs of infection, such as increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, or fever, then this is your cue to contact the clinic promptly. Full healing between sessions typically takes 6 – 8 weeks, which is also roughly how long clients should wait before their next treatment.

The feeling varies from person to person and by treatment area. Most clients experience a fast, sharp and hot sensation. Cooling may be used to support comfort, and treatment is delivered in short sections where appropriate.
Many tattoos require around 6–12 sessions, but this is only a guide. The size, colour, depth, age, location, ink density, skin type and individual immune response can all affect progress. Some tattoos require further sessions and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.
Appointments are usually spaced 6–8 weeks apart. We may recommend a longer interval if the area has not fully settled or if your treatment response needs more time.
No laser can guarantee clearance of every pigment. Black ink commonly responds well, while coloured, mixed, pastel, white and cosmetic pigments can be more unpredictable. We assess and patch test the tattoo before treatment.
At our clinic we do not offer tattoo removal for permanent makeup such as eyebrows, lips or any other permanent makeup tattoos.
Some tattoos clear very well, while others leave residual pigment, a faint “ghost” image or visible pre-existing scarring. We will explain what we believe is realistic, but no specific result can be guaranteed.
Yes. If your aim is a cover-up rather than full removal, we can plan treatment to reduce the density of the existing ink. Your tattoo artist can then advise when the area is ready for a new design.
Laser tattoo removal has recognised risks as well as benefits. We reduce risk through consultation, medical screening, patch testing, correct eye protection, appropriate treatment parameters, cooling, aftercare and review. Potential complications are discussed before consent.
The area is checked and cleaned, protective eyewear is fitted, and the laser is applied in controlled pulses. The appointment length depends on the size and complexity of the tattoo. Cooling and aftercare are provided as required.
Temporary whitening or “frosting”, redness, swelling, tenderness and local sensitivity can occur. Blistering, crusting or pinpoint bleeding may also occur. You will receive written aftercare and instructions on when to contact the clinic.
Downtime is usually limited, but the area needs to be protected while it heals. Avoid picking, friction and activities that could irritate or contaminate the skin. Follow the individual advice given by your practitioner.
Keep the area clean and protected, do not pick or scratch it, avoid sun exposure, and use the recommended sun protection once the skin has healed. Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms and excessive heat until the area has settled. Follow the written advice supplied after treatment.
Scarring is a possible risk, although careful treatment and good aftercare help reduce it. A tattoo may already contain scar tissue from the original tattooing process, which can become easier to see as the ink fades.
Suitability depends on the individual skin type, the tattoo pigment and the available wavelength. Darker skin contains more melanin, so settings must be selected carefully to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes. Consultation and patch testing are essential.
Treatment should not be performed over recently tanned or sunburnt skin. Please avoid deliberate tanning and tell us about recent sun exposure or fake tan so we can assess the area safely.
We may advise avoiding strenuous exercise, heat, sweating and friction immediately after treatment, particularly if the tattoo is in an area affected by clothing or movement. Follow the aftercare advice given for your treatment area.
We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please tell us if this applies to you or if your circumstances change during a treatment course.
Some medicines and supplements can affect photosensitivity, bleeding, healing or skin response. Give us a complete and up-to-date list at consultation and before every treatment. Do not stop prescribed medication unless advised by the clinician who prescribed it.
Yes, selected sections can sometimes be targeted for partial removal or design adjustment. We will assess whether the required precision is realistic and explain the risk of affecting nearby ink.
Fading is gradual and continues between appointments as the body processes fragmented ink. Progress can be uneven, and different colours or sections of the same tattoo may respond at different rates.
Follow your written aftercare, do not burst or pick a blister, and contact The Cosmetic Centre promptly for advice. Seek urgent medical attention if you feel seriously unwell or develop signs of a severe reaction.
Prices start from £65 per session. Consultations and patch tests are £50 and 100% refundable upon attendance, or redeemed against your treatment, no catch. Your exact price and recommended course will be confirmed after assessment.
Yes. Current course savings are 10% for 3 sessions, 15% for 6 sessions and 20% for 10 sessions, subject to the agreed treatment plan.
A patch test helps us observe how your skin and tattoo pigment respond before treating a larger area. It does not remove every possible risk, but it is an important part of safe treatment planning. Consultations and patch tests are £50 and 100% refundable upon attendance, or redeemed against your treatment, no catch.
