Chemical Peel Treatments

What you need to know about chemical peel treatments

Chemical skin peels help you achieve a brighter, fresher complexion. Although they sound a bit intimidating, they aren’t harsh on the skin at all. It is a cosmetic procedure that involves the application of controlled chemicals to the skin to promote the regeneration of skin cells. Chemical peels help improve overall skin texture, tone and appearance. The best part is, they don’t have to be used just on your face! Chemical peels can also be used on;

  • Hands
  • Neck
  • Chest

During a chemical peel treatment, we apply a solution containing various types and strengths of acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or phenol, to the skin. The solution is carefully chosen based on the patient’s skin type, concerns, and goals.

The chemical solution works to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, stimulating the production of collagen and promoting skin cell turnover, resulting in a smoother, brighter, and more youthful-looking complexion. Chemical peels can be categorised into different depths, including superficial or light peels, medium peels, and deep peels, with varying levels of exfoliation and downtime. Superficial or light peels typically use milder acids and have minimal downtime, while medium and deep peels may require more recovery time but can provide more dramatic results.

 Chemical peels are suitable for anybody who would like to address the following;

  • Fine lines and wrinkles: Chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially those caused by sun damage and ageing.

  • Hyperpigmentation: the treatment can lighten dark spots and uneven skin tone caused by sun damage, hormonal changes, or other factors.

  • Acne and acne scars: Chemical peels can help unclog pores, exfoliate the skin, and improve the appearance of acne-prone skin and acne scars.

  • Uneven skin texture: Smooth out rough, uneven skin texture, and promote a more even skin tone.

  • Sun damage: Improve sun-damaged skin by removing damaged skin cells and stimulating the production of new, healthier skin cells.

  • Melasma: Lighten and improve the appearance of melasma, which is a type of hyperpigmentation that commonly occurs during pregnancy or due to hormonal changes.

will i need to prepare my skin For A Chemical Peel?

You will not need to prepare your skin for your first peel. However, your practitioner will discuss a bespoke skincare routine and product recommendations to help you get the best out of your treatment and skincare journey.

Chemical peels are safe treatments when performed by trained professionals, such as our team here. Each treatment is tailored to the individual patient to acheive optimum results.

Longevity

You will see the results immediately after the procedure. Although, long term results are dependent on each patient. The procedure has been proven to achieve optimum results when using an effective skin care routine, which your practitioner will talk you through during treatment. We recommend you have the procedure every couple of months to maintain the results.

Side Effects

Side effects are extremely uncommon, but there may be some redness or irritation and in rare cases infection. We can assure you it is a very safe procedure.

Aftercare

You may experience redness on the face, depending on the strength of the peel and your makeup, but this will fade within 24 hours. Make up needs to be avoided for up to 48 hours post-treatment, and we advise you to wear a high SPF as your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure.
